Podcaster: Hi Soumya, how are you?

Soumya: Hello sir, I'm good. How are you?

Podcaster: Good, good! All right, I'll just take 5–10 minutes of your time. I’d love to hear your feedback regarding the digital marketing course. Let’s begin with your educational background—can you tell us a bit about that?

Soumya: Yes sir. I have completed my B.A. from VIBAN University. Currently, I’m pursuing an MBA in Digital Marketing from Amity University through distance education.

Podcaster: Great. And where are you based, Soumya?

Soumya: I’m from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Podcaster: How did you get into digital marketing? What inspired you to choose this field?

Soumya: It started when I began my MBA and had to choose a specialization. Digital Marketing stood out for me because of its immense scope and emerging trends like meme marketing and influencer marketing. It felt like a field I could resonate with. I got introduced to the idea of niches through Jobaaj Learnings. That’s when I realized SEO and content writing was my thing. I’ve always had a flair for writing — from journaling as a child to contributing to school magazines. This course helped me align that passion with my career.

Podcaster: That’s wonderful! So how did you come across Jobaaj Learnings?

Soumya: I Googled top digital marketing institutes and came across Jobaaj Learnings. I spoke to Harsh Sir first — he explained the course structure and assured me that the skills I’d gain would lead to real opportunities. That trust-building conversation was the turning point for me. I enrolled immediately.

Podcaster: Awesome. Now, there are many courses in the market. One key differentiator for us is our live and interactive classes. How was your experience with that part of the training?

Soumya: I’d say that was the biggest standout feature! The live sessions and personal mentorship made a huge difference. Weekly doubt-clearing sessions and the chance to connect with you one-on-one really helped — especially with topics like SEO and content writing.

Podcaster: Perfect. Now let’s talk about practical exposure. Many students go to college but still struggle with placements. How important was the hands-on learning for you?

Soumya: Extremely important. Especially in digital marketing, theory isn’t enough. The assignments we did built my portfolio. For instance, you had me edit blogs for Jaage, which I now showcase in interviews. Companies often ask me about that. Practical experience helped me realize how different real-world execution is from theoretical knowledge.

Podcaster: That’s so good to hear. So now that you’ve completed your course, where are you currently placed?

Soumya: I’m placed at Future MVPs, Gurgaon.

Podcaster: Amazing! Is it a remote or on-site role?

Soumya: It’s a hybrid model. I relocated to Gurgaon in December when I joined.

Podcaster: Nice! How are you liking the city?

Soumya: It’s very different from Kanpur, but I love the vibe here.

Podcaster: And what is your compensation package currently?

Soumya: I’m on a ₹6.2 LPA package, which matches my expectations. They’ve also mentioned an increment after two months based on performance.

Podcaster: That’s a solid start! Salaries grow with contribution and performance

General interview questions answered by Soumya during her selection process

What specific area of digital marketing are you most interested in, and why?

Sample Answer: I’m most interested in SEO and content writing. I believe great content, when optimized well, can drive real business results. I enjoy crafting content that adds value and strategically helps websites rank higher. Also, content lets me express creativity, while SEO adds the technical layer I enjoy working on.

Can you walk us through a digital marketing project or assignment you’ve worked on?

Sample Answer: One of my assignments during the course was editing and optimizing blogs for Jaage. I rewrote existing content to be more engaging and SEO-friendly by improving keyword density, meta tags, and readability. It was my first exposure to content optimization, and it taught me how real-world SEO works.

How do you conduct keyword research for SEO content?

Sample Answer: I usually start with tools like Google Keyword Planner or Ubersuggest to find relevant keywords based on search volume and competition. Then I look at the intent — whether it’s informational or transactional — and shortlist keywords that align with user needs. I also analyze competitor blogs to identify content gaps.

What do you understand by on-page and off-page SEO?

Sample Answer: On-page SEO includes everything I can control on the website itself—like keyword optimization, internal linking, title tags, meta descriptions, and content quality. Off-page SEO is more about building credibility through backlinks, guest blogging, and social media signals. Both are equally important for ranking.

Have you ever created or worked on content calendars or blog strategies?

Sample Answer: Yes. As part of my training, I worked on content calendars to organize blog topics aligned with monthly goals. I’d map keywords to each piece, consider publishing dates, and plan supporting content like social posts. It helped in staying consistent and measurable.

How do you measure the success of your SEO or content efforts?

Sample Answer: I usually track performance using Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Key metrics include organic traffic growth, bounce rate, session duration, keyword rankings, and the number of backlinks. For content, I also consider engagement like comments, shares, and time on page.
